Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toniz Collins, also known as Antonietta Gonzalez-Collins in both the United States and Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She hosts SportsNation and is a SportsCenter anchor. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins was bilingual since the age of nine years old, a valuable skill that helped her secure her first position as a production assistant with Univision in Miami and allowed her to be a part of the production team for national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was then employed as a reporter by the CBS station as the sports reporter. In 2009 she relocated to Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she was a news reporter at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Reporting on stories about the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of the border, she was a reporter for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of anchoring the 9 p.m. news in English and also another reporter for the news at 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. She was also frequently required to act as a sports or weather anchor. She was then anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given greater responsibilities. She reported on The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason and the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. In addition, she served as an anchor on sports in Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collin's parents originally hail from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. There is a sister. In 1992, the family moved to Miami following the move from Mexico in the US. Soon after they separated, and in the year 1995, Fabio Fajardo got married again. He died of kidney cancer in 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, the younger Collins had taken a position alongside her elder sister. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school, but she had a clear idea of what she wanted to do in her future career. She went to Mount Union University in order to find out if the school was suitable for her. She loved the campus. The university also provided her with the degree she wanted. She graduated from school and was attended the university with a media studies major. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU in which she is a member. They formed a strong friendship. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and his passion for journalism deeply affected her, and she in turn, strived to meet his standards and never let him down.
